Job Advert Description

Survitec are currently seeking an Lifting Technician to carry out inspection and service works on lifting equipment primarily in the Glasgow area and support the UK business including offshore installations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and service a variety of lifting equipment on customer premises, offshore and in the workshop.
  • Carry out equipment surveys and provide quotations for lifting equipment.
  • Provide customers lifting solutions and technical advice.
  • Carry out testing and produce reports utilising company standard documentation.
  • Ensure all parts used in the works are correctly booked to the correct works order.
  • Operate and maintain static plant equipment used in conjunction with maintenance activities.
  • Report any failures of equipment in accordance with LOLER regulations.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed to the highest standard.
  • Work in accordance with the local quality control procedures to ensure full traceability of all equipment moving the maintenance process.
  • Work autonomously on site in a safe and professional manner ensuring a high standard of work.
  • Plan works prioritising equipment dependant on customer requirements and historic trends.
  • Liaise on a day to day basis with engineering administration and management including central hire.
  • React at short notice to the requirements of the business.
  • Expected, as reasonably practicable, to work throughout all areas and locations of the business as required.
  • Provide cover and support for internal shortages or high workloads throughout the business as required.
  • Be responsible for the service and repair of hydraulic equipment, assisting with quotation & ensuring correct part allocation and record keeping.
  • Be responsible for maintaining hydraulic equipment as per PUWER/LOLAR guidelines.
  • Be responsible for maintaining hydraulic records within our CSAM system.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified to a minimum of LEEA IP1 (Entry), IP2 (Lifting General) and IP3 (Lifting Machines Manual).IP 4,5,6 desirable.
  • Recognised engineering qualification/experience.
  • Familiar with British/European standards and the requirements of PUWER & LOLER regulations including where to locate supporting information.
  • Experience in maintaining/repairing lifting equipment.
  • Experience in maintaining hydraulic equipment.
  • Familiar in the use of static plant machinery such as bead blast cabinets and chemical wash rigs.
  • Proven operator of overhead gantry cranes and fork lift would be advantageous.
  • Great attention to detail, high standards and a determination to achieve positive results under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of Microsoft office and the ability to learn new software packages.
  • Be prepared to work from customer’s premises and locations under Survitec’s quality and operations standards.
