Job Purpose

To provide technical, and process support for new and current products.  Identify opportunities for innovation in technical, manufacturing and quality adherence.

Responsible for driving improvement in all areas of the business to eliminate waste, improve lead time, eliminate errors and exceed customer expectation.

To provide training and development to new or junior members of the team and to production operatives.

Assists management in identifying and initiating technical projects and programs which lead to improved processes and products, reduced costs or increased output and efficiency. Ensures adherence to all standards and approvals while keeping within project budget and time constraints.

Provide all CAPEX applications for new manufacturing equipment and process development.

Supports the Production Engineering Lead and all Business Unit Teams to obtain optimum productivity, while achieving individual, functional objectives and strategic goals.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a successful track record as a qualified mechanical / manufacturing engineer preferably with an Aerospace DAOS environment. We will consider candidates who have experience of product design / production with the garment manufacturing sector, where production is completed to highly specified engineered specifications and tolerances.

It is preferred the candidate has knowledge of regulatory requirements - UK MOD DAOS and EASA Part 21G&J requirements.

Knowledge of Lean six sigma and C.I. tools such as: 5S, Visual Management, TPM, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, Mistake Proofing, Waste Elimination, Root cause analysis and PFMEA. Six Sigma belt accreditation would be advantageous.

 

Knowledge of garment technology with an industry standard qualification would be beneficial including manufacturing methods and software such as Accumark or equivalent CAD/CAM systems
